Inspired by the story of Baludarri who was befriended by Governor Phillip at the time of Parramatta’s settlement, this friendship led to some of the first organised trade between Aboriginal people and European settlers.
Design work inspired by elements of Baludarris story such as black duck plumage and fish scales, bark canoes and in particular the tied-up ends of these canoes
These artworks are a celebration of Parramatta and the land on which it rests. Prior to settlement the area was part of a natural valley that fed three separate watering holes, these are present on the front decal. The surrounding pattern is inspired by the city's growing skyline and the boggy waters-edge grasses of the rivers and watering holes of the land.
